Job Description, Duties, Interview Questions and Salary for Hotel Valet Driver

As a Hotel Valet Driver, your main responsibility will be to provide exceptional customer service to all guests of the hotel. You will be responsible for greeting guests as they arrive at the hotel entrance, assisting them with their luggage, parking their vehicles, and retrieving their vehicles when they need to depart.

You will need to be able to drive a variety of vehicles, including cars, vans, and trucks, and have a clean driving record. Additionally, you will need to have excellent communication and interpersonal skills, as you will be interacting with guests on a daily basis.

Other duties may include maintaining the cleanliness and organization of the valet parking area, keeping track of keys, and assisting with other tasks as needed. This is a fast-paced and physically demanding job, so you will need to be able to stand for long periods of time and lift heavy objects.

Monitor and maintain safety, security, and cleanliness of parking areas/levels, and report any security or safety problems. Able to effectively re-route traffic to alternate parking levels or locations when the parking facility reaches maximum capacity and keep informed supervisors and other teams.

Valet Driver Duties and Responsibilities:

  1. Open hotel main doors and assist guests/visitors entering and leaving the property.
  2. Assist guests with opening/closing vehicle doors.
  3. Welcome guests and visitors with appropriate greetings of the day.
  4. Acknowledge and greet guests within 25 to 30 seconds and provide professional, fast, and friendly service.
  5. Able to communicate parking procedures to guests/visitors.
  6. Tag guest vehicle keys with date & time, registration number, make/model, room number, or contact number of the guest.
  7. Provide the correct counter token or receipt of valet parking to the guest.
  8. Verify the guest’s token or receipt with the one attached to the key before handing over the keys or vehicle to the guest.
  9. Announce for the guest driver on the mic when the guest is ready to depart from the hotel.
  10. Announce for guest’s car on the mic when the guest hands over the parking token or receipt.
  11. Able to effectively park and retrieve guest’s cars without causing damage to the vehicle.
  12. Ability to drive and operate manual and automatic transmission vehicles.
  13. Able to provide guests with information regarding property facilities, amenities, services, and hours of operation.
  14. Able to provide guests with direction and local areas of interest and activities.
  15. Give fond farewell to all guests who are departing as per hotel standards.
  16. Monitor and direct personal and commercial vehicle traffic on the property, including guest vehicles, taxi cabs, limousines, and buses.
  17. Ensure vehicles are legally parked and maintain a smooth and efficient flow of traffic.
  18. Ensure all guest’s valet experiences are memorable, unique, and as per the hotel’s standards.
  19. Responsible for maintaining the security of vehicles, belongings kept inside the car, and vehicle keys.
  20. Responsible for following up with guests to ensure their requests or problems have been met to their satisfaction.
  21. Responsible for opening and closing parking areas or facilities.
  22. Document and report all vehicle incidents like damages, accidents, theft, missing articles, etc..
  23. Review shift logs/daily memo books and document any relevant details or information in the logbook.
  24. Report accidents, injuries, and unsafe work conditions to the supervisor or manager.
  25. Monitor and maintain safety, security, and cleanliness of parking areas, portico, and behind the valet stand.
  26. Responsible for reporting any security or safety problems, safety hazards, and potential security problems to the supervisors.
  27. Re-route traffic when the parking facility reaches maximum capacity and ensure staff is informed.

Position Title: Valet Driver / Valet Parking Assistant

Reports To: Chief Concierge / Front Office Manager (FOM)

Prerequisites:

  • Valid driver’s license and clean driving record.
  •  Must be able to speak, read, and write Standard English.
  •  Must be able to stand during the entire shift.
  •  Must have a professional appearance and attitude at all times.
  •  Available to work flexible Full-Time hours including weekends, holidays, and special events.

Education:

High School Diploma or equivalent preferred. Basic computer skills.

Experience:

Prior Bell or Valet experience desired in a full-service hotel. Freshers are also normally considered for this position.
