Job Description for Housekeeping Tailor in hotels

As a laundry tailor, your main responsibility is to ensure that all linens, towels, and other fabrics used in the hotel or resort are cleaned, pressed, and mended as needed. This includes sorting items by color and fabric type, washing and drying them using the appropriate machines and detergents, and ironing them to remove any wrinkles or creases.

In addition to laundry duties, you may also be responsible for basic sewing and tailoring tasks, such as repairing tears in linens or adjusting the length of curtains. You will need to have a good eye for detail and be able to work efficiently and accurately under tight deadlines.

This job requires physical stamina as you will be standing for long periods of time and lifting heavy bags of laundry. You will need to be comfortable working in a fast-paced environment and be able to prioritize tasks effectively.

Overall, as a laundry tailor, you play a crucial role in ensuring that guests have a comfortable and enjoyable stay at the hotel or resort. Your attention to detail and commitment to quality will be greatly appreciated by both guests and management alike.

As a Tailor, you are responsible for daily tailoring duties as instructed by the housekeeping superior.

While adhering to hotel policies and procedures. Responsible for maintenance and upkeep of sewing equipment and all areas under his/her control.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Performs timely repairs on all items of uniform, linen, and upholstery.
  •  Stitches new uniforms, and items of linen and upholstery as per hotel specifications.
  •  Ensures that all linen and uniforms are repaired before issuing them to staff.
  •  Measure, make, or alter uniforms for new employees
  •  Take care of basic alterations requested by guests.
  •  Inform the linen room supervisor to replenish sewing supplies.
  •  Repair and maintain uniforms for all hotel employees.
  •  Convert discarded linen into usable items for re-circulation.
  •  Organize and take inventory of all fabric materials.
  •  Assume duties and tasks assigned by Superiors.
  •  Assumes responsibilities of linen/uniform room attendant whenever required.
  •  Attends behavioral and vocational training in own and related work areas to enhance skills and develop multi-functional.
  •  Keep a detailed record of the daily work.
  •  Keep the tailoring area clean and tidy.
  •  Shares his knowledge and skill with all departmental employees.

PREREQUISITES:

Education:

A secondary school/diploma / High school is preferred.

Experience:

Candidate must be ideally qualified and trained with professional tailoring skills and have previous experiences in a similar position, preferably in the hospitality industry. A good command of English is an advantage.
